God Gave Me You

"On my own, I'm only half of what I could be. I can't do without you, we are stitched together and what love has tethered, I could never undo.

God gave me you for the ups and downs. God gave me you for the days of doubt. For when I think I've lost my way, there are no words here left to say, it's true God gave me you."

Yesterday, Aaron and I celebrated our 4th Anniversary. Crazy how fast time has gone by! 4 years ago we were on a Cruise ship somewhere in the gulf of Mexico living it up and here we are today at home with a rowdy two year old watching "Go Diego" (and I wouldn't trade it for the world!). I had to be back at school for the evening last night so we didn't get have a "nice" meal, so I joked with Aaron that nothing says "I love you" like some yummy Hamburger Helper :) We did get to have a date night last Saturday and eat at the Iguana Grill and hit up the outlet mall and this Saturday we get to kick off football season at Boone Pickens Stadium watching our Cowboys while Mom and Dad keep Wyatt for the night.

Here's to many more years with my wonderful hubby!

Lil Cuties!

Love these kiddos so much! We are so grateful that Wyatt has not one, but two cousins that are so close to his age. They have such a great time together!

Strong Enough

If you haven't heard the Matthew West Song "Strong Enough", you should go here and give it a listen. I have it on my ITunes and listen to it daily! The basis of the song is that we don't have to be strong in hard situations. We serve an amazing God who is strong enough for all of us. All it takes is our faith in him that he can carry us through tough situations in life. We have to learn to rely on him and not our own strength. How simple does that sound?? And yet sometimes it is so hard...

This past weekend we said "Farewell for now" to my Grandma. (Not goodbye, bc we know that we will meet again in Heaven!) The funeral was a great tribute to her life. The grandsons read memories from family members and there was a nice slideshow at the end.
The funeral home said it was the largest funeral that had been held there. What a great testimony to the many lives she touched! I never do well at funerals and just have a hard time with the whole "grieving" process; but somehow by the end, I was okay... I had literally prayed all week that God would give me a peace and be "strong enough" for me during what I knew would be a hard day. He is true to his promises :)

Rest in Peace Sweet Grandma! We will meet again!

"Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled"

As I mentioned in my last post, Stephen and his family made an unplanned trip down here for the 4th of July. Their reason was to see my sweet Grandma. About a month ago, she was diagnosied with cancer. Not just any cancer, but stage 4 cancer than originated in her bladder and has spread to other places. It has all happened so fast... She has gone down hill drastically and Hospice has said "She is on the last leg of her journey". A month ago, I could have never imagined this. Yes, she is 82, but she has always had fairly good health and I just never pictured it happening this way. You see this isn't the first relative we have lost to a battle with cancer. My mom's brother also passed away from cancer. It is brutal and not anything you ever want anyone to go through. While I am trying to find a peace in my heart, I am struggling with why it had to happen like this.... I know God has reasons beyond my understanding and will give my Grandma and our family the strength we need to get through this. My Grandmas is a strong, Christian woman. She has raised 4 kids, has 8 grandkids and 8 great grand kids. She has lived a full life and will always remain a role model to me.
Forgive my ramblings, but I wanted to write something and wasn't sure how to put it. I haven't really said much to many people because talking about it makes it seem more real. (I know, I'm a counselor and I realize that keeping everything inside isn't the most healthy way to deal with things!) Continue to keep our family in your prayers.

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. " John 14:27

God Bless the USA!

4th of July Weekend always has a way of ending up to be one of my favorite events of the summer. This year was no exception! Stephen and family ended up coming down for the long weekend and although I don't like the circumstances that brought them here (I'll explain that in another post), we so enjoyed having them here. It gave us a great chance to visit with family and let the kids spend plenty of time playing together.

4th of July also gives a great excuse to eat way too much!

Cuties in their matching flag shirts
(and yes that's a bow on my SON's head, he kept wanting to put it on!)

Not sure what they're looking at....

Dinner with cousin Dane

Playing in the "rain"

Slip and Slide time!

Yummy Popsicles

I kinda like to make red, white and blue desserts ;)

Beach Bums :)

We took our first "real" family vacation this summer to Destin, FL. It was AHHHmazing! The 15 hour drive wasn't bad at all and our condo was the perfect home away from home. We couldn't have asked for a better trip. We spent our our days being certified beach bums and just hanging out- playing in the sand, soaking up the sun, splashing in the waves and of course, eating way too much!!! Every day Wyatt would ask to "Go to the water?" and that's just what we did! We were at the beach by 9:30 every day and came back to the condo to swim in our resort-style pool in the late afternoons. Wyatt LOVES to swim! We made some great family memories and can't wait to come back sunny Florida!

Our Dolphin Cruise- Wyatt got to be the captain of the boat!

Daddy Caught a fishy!

Not so excited to stop running just to take a
boring pic with Mom :(

Goodbye Destin, we hope to be seein' ya again next summer!

Choo Choo Wyatt is TWO!

We celebrated Wyatt's 2nd Birthday with Choo Choo Train party at The Orr Family Farm. It was a great day! I still can't believe my baby is a 2 year old! He is talking so much and constantly on the go- literally running most of the time. He is such a sweety when he wants to be, but definitely has a stubborn side! He can throw fits with the best of them.... I love how funny he is too! You just never know what he is going to come up with.

I love you WyWy and hope you loved your Choo Choo party!

Ten Years!?

And no, I'm not talking about how long it's been since my last blog ;)

Comanche always has it's All Alumni banquet on Easter weekend and the 10 year class is the host. This year, that just happened to be my class- the Class of 2001! I seriously cannot believe it has already been 10 years since I graduated high school. Time flies.... I missed out on my class cookout on Friday night, but was able to make it to the banquet on Saturday. We didn't have a huge turnout, but it was nice to see those that were able to come.

Next year we'll get to do this all over again for Aaron's 10 year reunion!

Lil Rock Star

Wyatt's newest obsession- GUITARS!

He loves them and until this week, we completely forgot about our old Guitar Hero guitars. We drug them out of retirement from the back closet and Wyatt has been rockin' out ever since!

Livin' On Tulsa Time

We got home this afternoon from a fun filled, mini getaway to Tulsa. Our first stop was Sesame Street Live at the BOK Center downtown. It was great! I got our tickets awhile ago during the pre-sale so we were able to get on the 2nd row. Wyatt loved the show and was so excited to see Elmo and Big Bird. The characters would take turns coming into the audience and walking around, so Wyatt got to give Elmo a high five and shake hands with Ernie :) When Elmo would leave the stage Wyatt would say "Elmo, are you??" (his version of where are you)
After the big show, we headed to our hotel. We chose it because it had Leapin Louie's Lagoon in it. It is a small little, indoor pool play area for kids. Wyatt loves the water, so we knew he would have a good time. Earlier in the day he kept saying, "Tulsa swim?". He couldn't wait until we got to the pool! And just like we predicted- he LOVED it! (Seriously, if your ever staying in Tulsa with kiddos, the Radisson is the place to stay!) We even enjoyed a second trip to the pool this morning after a yummy breakfast at the hotel restaurant.

Show Time!
Wyatt's favorites - Elmo and Big Bird!

He was trying to take pictures with his Mickey phone :)

Just hanging out at the hotel

His favorite part - the froggy slide!

Good Morning!

Nothing beats a lazy Saturday morning hanging out in your jammies and.... froggy boots???
As soon as he had finished his breakfast he insisted that I put them on him and he's still wearing them :)

We're excited to have a low key weekend at home. The first in awhile! Aaron's at work this morning and I'm attempting to get some things cleaned around here (we'll see how that goes!) Then, we're off for a much needed haircut for Wyatt Man this afternoon and maybe a little shopping and dinner ;)
