May 20, 2013 is a day that Oklahomans will remember forever. I know that I'll always be able to look back and remember just where I was and the feeling afterwards when we got out and saw on the news the total devastation that had occurred in Moore. Gut wrenching, unbelievable, heart breaking....
We were safe in our cellar with some of close friends who had come to get in with us. I am thankful for the fact that the tornado lifted and didn't stay on course, or it could have easily headed this way. But at the same time, it almost gives a feeling of guilt that I got to tuck both my kids safely in their beds in our home that night.
What I do know is that I have never been more proud to be an "okie"! This state has come together like no other to support not only those effected by the Moore tornado, but also the storms that came through other towns the day before. So much so, that at one point they had to turn away volunteers and ask that people stop bringing donations for the time being!!! Literally millions of dollars have been donated and will continue to come in.
I read this somewhere on facebook and I absolutely love it!
"Oklahoma isn't a place. It's something in your blood. It's something that you do. It's the shirt off your back, the tear in your eye, and the giddy up in your soul"
